Bundaberg

Heading towards Bundaberg Ben was very excited! He couldn't wait to see where his old friend "Punch in a can" was actually harvested, distilled, bottled and put on the shelf. We got to the Rum distillery around lunch time and headed in for a look. The Place was pretty cool, set up in an old replica of the original founding farm house of the creators of the rum was the gift shop. I was super keen to try the Peechy fizzy drink they had as I was already a huge fan of their ginger beer and Sasparella. We also found a new lil' winner 'Bundaberg Rum Fudge', ohh my lord was it good!!!! Ben left with an exclusive bottle to the distillery and a huge smile on his face.

Back on the road we found a little place on the map called Petrie Park to camp right on the river. This place was gorgeous and Ben did some fishing as I cooked up some "Not" Dogs for dinner. YUM!!! All finished up with a nice little piece of Bundaberg Fudge and a movie in the Spider Tent, what a rad day!

Tomorrow it's Australia Zoo!!! xxx

Marlborough

Saturday 31st July

Sticking to our plan we got up early and hit the road. We planned to be at a rest stop in Marlborough by 3pm.

This little town was tiny and super cute. We were staying next to the little pub there and the owners were more than happy for us to stay on their vacant land and make use of the toilets and showers for only $5 each! Now we're talkin'! Not only did this place come with basic amenities but there was also a horse I could feed carrots to, a beautiful big golden retriever, three cats, a beautiful flock of hungry baby birds, some friendly magpies and a frog! Talk about Australia Zoo!

We cooked up a really nice meal and decided to test out the back of the car for sleeping in, this time we left the back open and put the tarp up so we had more leg room. This worked a treat!!! A few hours into our undisturbed sleep and…"ONE ON ONE MATE!!! ONE ON ONE!!!!"….A bar fight spilled out into the carpark right next to where we were sleeping, Ben and I laid in silence as we listened to the scuffle. What sounded like one big burley hulk of a man and another guy were exchanging drunken words about how they were gonna have a fight "One on one", this went on for about 20 minutes but no punches were thrown as far as we could tell. The fight finished and all the men charged up their up their and took off. So much for a good nights sleep!!! But it sure did make for a good story. xxx
